Maths Teacher Vacancy

Location: Online, preferably attending In-Centre for training 

Hours: Part-Time, 24 – 32 hrs per week (0.6 – 0.8 FTE) 

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday (preferable, but negotiable), Term time only 

Salary:  Point 12 – 14 £28,381 – £29,615 FTE

Contract Type: Permanent 

Start Date: 1st September 2025, In-Centre initial induction (~3 days), other visits to be negotiated during probation and beyond 

  • classes are 1:1 or in groups of typically no more than four learners, 
  • learning programmes are individually tailored to address gaps and build the learner’s awareness of their ability to succeed; 
  • our holistic provision model enables learners to engage and rebuild through a supportive, gradual approach;

RBAir is a special educational provision offering a hybrid of online and face-to-face support to learners aged between 11 (Year 7) and 20 (last admission at age 18). We welcomed our first learners in 2011, since when we have supported many young people to re-engage with their education, and achieve qualifications alongside, building up confidence in their social skills and improving their wellbeing.   

The postholder will teach learners individually or in small groups online. They will work alongside other staff to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with a core group of learners, their families, and other professionals supporting them. 

  • a degree in Maths or a related subject; 
  • Qualified Teacher Status; 
  • the adaptability to deliver a ‘Stage not Age’ approach to individual learning and development;
  • a nurturing, non-judgmental attitude and a commitment to the wellbeing of young people with social and emotional mental health needs 

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will also be required.

In advance of the interview, candidates should submit a PowerPoint presentation of about 6-8 slides introducing the topic of Compound Measures to Foundation tier GCSE learners, including a set of questions to check understanding. The presentation may be a general introduction or may focus on a specific context, e.g. distance, speed, time. Candidates will not be expected to ‘deliver’ their presentation at the interview, but it may form part of the discussion.
